Synopsis::

I am no longer able to use "exclusive directx mode" and now have some minor tearing in full screen video. If I enable it, I am unable to get fullscreen video. I only have a black screen with sound.
It started right after the change over to the new direct show library. I tried the usual things: different skins, different codecs, different deinterlace settings,with no luck. I looked over the logs but can't see anything that sticks out indicating a problem.

I'll be the first to tell you, CVS is just test code, but I am so close to everything being perfect now. No more TV stutter, timeshift is smooth as glass and my recordings record. I just have some minor, but annoying, tearing without full screen directx.
MP community... your my only hope.

    works fine for me, so at least it doesn't seem to be a global problem.

    TRy running dxdiag from start/run and see if it reports any errors in your set up. A desperate effort may also be to re-install DirectX and see if that helps.

    I'm not sure these will yield much, but it's all I can think of.

    Thanks for your help Marcusb. Turned out my graphics drivers were broken. I noticed odd behavior when I went into the NVIDIA control panel. Reinstalled the drivers and now it works like a charm. Still not sure how they got broken in the first place though. :?

    I had the same problem on my Via Epia SP 13000 - using exclusive directx mode caused a black screen in full screen video and thus I suffered tearing. Reinstalling the video drivers made no difference for me however updating the BIOS to version 1.07 unexpectedly fixed the problem in my case and the tearing problem is resolved.
