Since RC3 i noticed that pre- recording times are not being honored.

Pre- and post recording times have been set in the TV server configuration to 5 and 25 minutes.

    Pre-recording not honored:

The TV.bak log shows the server waking up one minute before the actual program start time:
    2010-06-05 20:29:09.531250 [PowerScheduler Waiter(14)]: PowerScheduler: OnResume

and the recording starting at the actual program start time:
2010-06-05 20:30:01.531250 [scheduler thread(9)]: Scheduler: Time to record een 20:30-23:15 Pirates of the Caribbean

Further down the log a recording also starts at the actual program start time even though the server does not need to wake from standby:
2010-06-05 20:35:03.593750 [scheduler thread(9)]: Scheduler: Time to record canvas ketnet 20:35-22:15 Lewis

    Post-recording is OK:

    The TV.bak log shows:
2010-06-05 20:30:01.531250 [scheduler thread(9)]: Scheduler: Time to record een 20:30-23:15 Pirates of the Caribbean

    The TsWriter log shows:
    05-06-2010 20:30:03.265 Recorder: RECORD set filename:H:\Recorded TV\Pirates of the Caribbean - een - 2010-06-05.ts
    05-06-2010 23:40:00.687 Recorder: RECORD Stop 'H:\Recorded TV\Pirates of the Caribbean - een - 2010-06-05.ts'

    Hi,

Do you have the pre-record time set in setuptv, or did you set it individually for a recording within mediaportal?

Since there is no difference when the server is woken to record or not, it does not seem to be a power problem.

Are you able to browse your SQL database to find the entries for the recordings? I know it is possible to do this, but I don't know how.

I think you should try completely deleting your TV database and re-creating it from scratch. This would get rid of any database problems.

For me, I have the standard default pre and post record times set, and it is working fine.

Run SetupTv (MediaPortal TV Server Configuration). Go to Schedules, find your schedules and check the pre- and post- record times. Pre/post record times are set when creating a schedule. Later changing the default does not change existing schedules.

Try deleting a schedule and recreating it. Check the pre/post record times again in SetupTv/Schedules, is it correct this time?

Under scheduled in TV server setup the pre- and post-recording times are stated correctly as 5 and 25 minutes.

Of course that is for the currently existing schedules. But I have a pre-recording time of 5 minutes set since 2007. Also the example for the recording of 'Lewis' mentioned above is part of a schedule that still exists, it shows a pre-recording time of 5 minutes.

I changed the pre-recording time to 30 minutes, saved the settings and programmed a recording from a client. Indeed the pre-recording time for that recording shows as 30 min., the rest still shows as 5 min.

I can tell you in a few if the recording started on time. ... a few ... recording started on time, 30 minutes before the program.

I'm sorry I have been wasting your time. This is a red herring.

The RC1 TV server release proves generally unstable for me. I was looking for issues that I could document. The programmed recording that triggered me to look at this didn't finish recording (other problem, see other thread) AND must have started 5 minutes early.

What confused me is that the times shown for recorded shows in the MP GUI are not the start and stop times of the show but the start and stop times of the recording including pre- and post-recording time. Not what I would expect, too much VCR like, but that is arguable.

   , :D and :sorry:

One more thing: what type of schedules are we talking about? (weekly, daily, every time on this channel etc.)

    Posts must have crossed.

It was an 'every time on this channel' schedule.
