Hey! I've reccently decided to build a media center for my home entertainment system, and after searching for front ends I came across Media Protal and thus far i'm very pleased with what i've been able to set up. However, as picky as this may seem, I do have an interest in setting up the application to work slightly differently then it currently does.
Currently, Media Portal lists all the movies/television shows/video files and simply plays the selected piece of media on selection. I am aware that VIA right click I can set up/view some basic information about whatevers selected, but I have an interest in setting it up so that when I click on a specific movie/television show/media file a separate menu would come up, specifically for that selection. For example, I don't want to just have the choice for "Alien" play the film, I'd like it to open a separate page with information on the right hand side, and a few choices/buttons on the left hand side, such as "View Trailer" , "Play Movie" , "View behind the scenes footage" and so on - essentially I'd customize the specific buttons for each selection. (For example, if I put in Family guy i'd create even more sub-menus to allow for folders such as "Season 1", "Season 2", etc.)
Anyway, I typed that all out simply because I'm not really sure what the best way to approach this problem is. Can I do this all through custom skinning? Or do I have to actually write some custom source code? I do have SOME experiance with Java/C++, and I am willing to work through the source code to set this up if necessary. This is just a small project for my home theater system and so it doesn't need to be fancy, but I really would like to be able to get it working.
Thanks in advance for any help/tips you guys can offer me!
