I installed the latest mediaportal version on windows7 home premium, areo enabled.
Mediaportal could scan the channels and FTA channels are receivable with *excellent* video quality.

TheDVB receiver is a digital devices Ngene based Cine DVB-S2.
I've enabled cam access within the cines2 driver for both LNB inputs.

Cam access is also enable within mediaportal.

One weird conclusion: Before the cam was activated, there where red icon's for encrypted channels, green icon's for FTA channels in the channel list.
Now that simply the cam is activated, all encrypted channels are shown as green, no matter which sort of encryption is used, so even encryption that the cam can not decode
is shown as green icon in the channel list.

But ok, next step is to re-activate the smartcard, rasy, enter the smartcard number online and the privider send a pulse to the cam within one hour.
But this re-activation fails.

I see enable/disable TV in the menu, if I tune to the channel to accept this pulse, mediaportel enables TV.
But then comes the message : encrypted channel. and after that, mediaportal disables TV.

oh no, The channel should stay tuned at¨*any* costs or the cam will never get an unlock signal.

How to force mediaportal to stay tuned on that channel?

Unfortunately it isn't possible to use MediaPortal to activate the smartcard. This is a feature that has been proposed for the future but has not yet been implemented. Sorry.

There is no need that Mediaportal should activate the smartcard, but mediaportal should no close the TV signal if a encrypted bouquet channel is selected.
Now mediaportal closes the signal after the message that a encrypted signal is received so the channel can not be opened.
So, after the message dissapears, also the channel signal.

The only thing that is needed to activate the smartcard is switching to the encrypted channel ans stay tunes on that channel for at leat one hour so that the unlock signal
can be received that switches on the smartcard.

So, activating a smartcard has nothing to do with mediaportal itself ecept, keep the encrypted channel open as long as the user does not switch to another channel.
if this is a huge problem, ok, then I will have to ask that they kcan send the pulses to a FTA channel and if not, sorry , no mediaportal.

Will the tvcards own software allow this, you could activate and then switch to using the tvserver.

Infinite.loop our project manager even had this issue with MP

Of course MP does not activate the smartcard, but I think you understand what I mean.

If there is an FTA channel on any of the transponders/muxes with encrypted channels then that may be enough.

I've re-installed dvbviewer and it took 11 minutes to receive the unlock signal.
DVBviewer was capable to show the encrypted channels.
Closed DVBviewer and started mediaportal: ah, sound of the encrypted channels but no video.

If I start dvbviewer and after that mediaportal, then mediaportal hass full access so sound and video.
No stable HD tho but that's another thing. Perhaps video hardware acceleration not activated and the used processor, Intel Xeon dual ccore 2,2Ghz is not able to decode
HD fluently.

I prefer the cyberlink dvd decoder and have a licensed powerDVD11 but powerdvd is not accessible from within dvbviewer and mediaportal.
I know, ther's a tool as Radlights filter manager but filter manager fails.
If I click on the register button, select the power dvd file, then ok and poof error.
Perhaps Windows7 32bit would be better then the 64bit edition.
The powerdvd failure is not a matter for mediaportal , except if someone might know a solution for windows7 64bit.

Despites the startup problems, mediaportal is the way to go.

As you have a legal copy of PDVD, then install SAF6, once you have pm'd hoborg for the unlock key.

This will supply the necessary files to correctly register the PDVD codecs for use with MP.

Now that is what I call a good tip.
I will post again after the test with SAF6.

After saf6, mediaportal can open the encrypted channels, at start rather slow before the default encrypted channel shows, but zapping between the encrypted channels goes fast.
Receiving HD is a problem but need to check some settings first. if the problem can not be solved, then I post a new topic cause this one may be closed
