Hi,
I was planning to setup a dedicated TVE3-Box, nothing more than TVE3 and SQL. But I can't find real requirements for a dedicated machine CPU / DX9?
I think DX9 is important, but how about the CPU? Is a Via C7 on some mITX-Board powerfull enough for DVB-S/T.
For analouge there must definitively be more power but i don't plan to use it.
At the moment my BE-2350 runs under WHS at 15% load while recording and timeshifting at the same time with 2 cards.

IMHO it should work, or?

BTW. With only 1 PCI slot ther is no room for more than one card, but I'm planning to use USB, Firewire or a multi-tuner-card.

Sorry for my englich.

The system listed under my user name (on the left of this post) is running a dedicated TV Server at the moment, with 2 DVB-T PCI cards.

I sometimes feel like it needs more ram to be safe, but it's really very reliable.

I don't know about a Via C7, but I don't think CPU performance has ever been an issue for a dedicated TV server with DVB-T.

    I hope that helps.

You won't need a DX9 card if you don't intend on viewing TV on the server box, which it doesn't sound like you are.

DVB-S/T is already encoded as mpeg so I doubt you'll need a beefy processor, can't say whether a Via C7 will work or not, if you've already got the cpu there's no harm in trying it out, otherwise a bottom of the range Core2 is very cheap and will easily handle what you throw at it.

My other recommendations would be for dedicated drives for each TV card, the OS and the SQL database, though it really depends on how many clients you'll have accessing it at the same time and so on.

    Thanks both

My idea was to setup a dedicated Box with 2-3 Tv-Cards, for 2 clients, which can run 24 hours while consuming less power.
At the moment I have the BE-2350 but its a way bit too big... And never running really higher than 15%-40% with the most load only on one core. Unfortanetly I have no C7-Board, maybe i lend one (or get one).

And no, I'am not that type of guy which spend 500 bucks for saving 10. It's only an (expensive) hobby to play around with technic.:D
