Hey all

So I was digging through the Moving Pictures configuration tool trying to setup a 'Recently Played' category. Reason being, my 3 year old daughter has a revolving set of 'top 5' favourite films for any given week that get played reasonably frequently. It would be great to have these 'pop to the top' of a 'recently played' category, rather than have my wife dig through either a lengthy genre list (animation), or search, or have to maintain this constantly changing list manually over a number of months using a custom category (name regex perhaps?). Also - due to having kids - I often don't get to finish watching a chosen film in one single sitting so it would be great to just hit the 'recently played' category and resume my last movie from there when I'm ready, rather than hunting through the list in the usual ways.

However, it doesn't seem to be possible (to my eye at least) to set this category up in MP. Has this been requested before? Is it do-able? If so, how? :)

Thanks all,

BiGW

For your problem is not being able to enjoy a movie in a single setting, you can use:

"Resume Time" + "is greater than" + "0" as any movie unwatched or watched completly will have their resume time set to '0'

For your daughter you can at least use the "Watched Count" method, movies played a lot will surface to the top of the list. But there is indeed no way to filter that on an example: "Date Played" filter, in current version of MovingPictures, to only show the ones with 2+ watched count in the last 2 weeks.

One alternative (workaround) you can do however is write a simple CMD script that you add to your OS Task Scheduler in which you use the "Date Last Accessed" timestamp on your mediafiles to re-locate them to a sub-folder (or rename the filename). MovingPictures has no problem detecting the renaming event in real-time and instantly update the filename/location (without re-importing), as long as it remains within an active import folder.

Then you can use the "Full Path" filter condition to seperate these movies for your kid.

I have no idea how to make it happen, but this is something that Trakt keeps track of. Maybe that plugin could help you, or be modified to do what you are asking.
