I am currently running 1.2mp and have tuned my dish into SKY at 28E i am looking for recommendations on HOW and WHAT hardware i will need to view the encrypted channels. I have a current SKY card subscription and i am using a black gold tuner with HD support

Blackgold don't have a CI slot for any of their tuners. You would need to buy a new tuner that has a CI slot that supports a CAM that can be used to decrypt the channels that you're interested in. Have a look -->here<--...

TBS cards seem to be recommended on here, or the DigitalDevices ones (very expensive). I've got a FloppyDTV card but sadly they don't make them anymore.

I have looked at the Tbs cards but none support a cam yet.
The digital devices look tobe the better option, more reading to do i guess.

Yeah, TBS have only just released their first tuner with CAM support - the 5980. I'm working on adding support for it at the moment. You could go with a Technotrend Budget S2 3200, Terratec Cinergy S2 HD or Technisat Skystar HD2...

I did see the 5980 and wondered how long they might be before releasing them on the public, im not sure whether to hold off or go with another like the S2 3200. Have you used any of the above and would you recommend any. Also do you know the type of CAM that would be needed for SKY.

There are no hardware CAMs available that can read the white Sky card (AFAIK).

It can be done though. PM me for details - it cannot be discussed publicly on the forum because there is potential for misuse.

Ah cool didn't know that! I could never find any when I was looking, perhaps it wasn't around then.

Might be a good way to go (OP). The 'other way' isn't as easy as you might need linux experience depending on how you do it.
