Ok, can someone explain difference between recording in TS and MPG ?

I´m recording from a firedtv-t and i´m playing the files from a Popcorn Hour (it can play both)

i guess TS is unchanged stream from the dvb-t? or?? Mpg is re-encoded using a mpg-encoder.

What about quality, same? depending on mpg encoder (witch to use?)

As you can read i need some help here..

/b.

TS recordings contains additional information such as subtitles.
MPG recordings are stripped from this extra information (but not reencoded).

Not true. It does cut .ts files as well. Basically each important tool has support for transport stream files...
Well - you're free to use whatever you like; just do not complain about missing recordings, 0kb files, whatever if the stream has non-standard contents.

"non-standard contents" 0kb files? how do you mean? Is this a common problem?

Could you please explain the coherence between missing recordings / 0kb files and the choise of mpg / ts ? Once the stream of a program-packet is extracted (which is done by tsreader anyway, no matter what record format you choose) it shouldn't matter whether the recording contains the additional layer contained in ts-files or "just" the audio- and video-streams in mpg-files.

TsWriter.ax filter does additional processing (remuxing) the TS stream so that it can be saved as mpeg.

    1) One more step that can go wrong
    2) .ts recording has been tested much more
    3) much more effort has been put to get .ts recordings to work

Doesn't recording in ts also require remuxing, since the original stream contains more than one channel which have to be demuxed first ?
