Hi,

New to MediaPortal. I have it running the way I want it but still have 2 question.

1. Is it possible to record 1 show and watch another at the same time?
2. Is it possible the record HD content using Media Portal?

I am using Videotron (Canada, Quebec)

Thanks.

Edit: MythTV was a typo. Mean MediaPortal... :)

Wrong Forum??!!

You may want to try in the MythTV Knowledgebase.

This Forum is for Media Portal...

Seriously though:

1. Yes, if you have more than one TV Tuner Card, or a Dual Tuner Card.
2. Yes, if you have an HD Tuner Card.

I thought so, but I figured I'd give you a hard time. As an afterthought, you may need a card with CAM/Cable Card capability to get HD channels with your service provider. I know I need one for my HD channels since they are encrypted.

Found the answer to my questions. Cant record HD content unless its not porectect by 5C. If I want to record and watch SD channels get a dual tuner card.

1) yes. My old card was a single tuner card. With it, I could record multiple channels, assuming the channels were on the same frequency. I.e. where I live, we have 3 Digital TV provider where each provider have one frequency and all their channels are muxed. One of the provider have 5 channels on the same frequency, so I could record multiple channels of the same provider. Have now upgraded to a dual tuner so now I can watch/record multiple channels from up till 2 providers.

2) Yes. One of our channels is 1080i, 2 is 720p and some range of 576.
When recording, I'm recording to native .ts format.

Where do you live? Anywhere in Quebec? You using cable or satellite? Are you recording HD using the firewire port off of our cable box?

    1. Is it possible to record 1 show and watch another at the same time?
    Depends on your hardware.

    • if you have only one analog tv-card -> then no
    • if you have 2 analog tv-cards -> then yes
    • if you have one dvb-card and the channels are on different transponders -> then no
    • if you have one dvb-card and the channels are on the same transponder -> then yes
    • if you have 2 dvb-cards -> then yes

i have been recording 6 tv-shows on different channels and watched an other one without issues. :)

    2. Is it possible the record HD content using Media Portal?
if you have a tv-card which is able to receive an HD-channel, then yes.

New Zealand. I'm using DVB-T with a Hauppauge Nova-T 500HD. My old card was a hybrid DTV200H. (Only used digital TV.)
