Hi All,

I have just installed MediaPortal and it works great! I would like to use mediaportal to record TV/shows, which i can copy to my iPod Touch (3G) and watch the shows on a later date whilst travelling. But before i can do that i have some questions:

* Can i change the file format of the recorded shows to a format which is immediately importable on an iPod?
* If not, which (3rd party or plugin) software can i use to convert my recordings?

Thanks in advance for your answers! :D

Hi Usualsuspect,

Thanks for the answer! I will surely take a look at iPimp. but as i read the documentation of iPimp, it seems that i need a (wireless) network connection and as i would like to watch the recorded shows in when i am not connected to my network (in the train to work to be exact) i guess i still need to convert the recorded shows. So the question remains:

* Can i record directly in a format which i can import in my iPod or do i need to use a 3rd party conversion tool? If i need to use a 3rd party tool, which is recommended?

Usualsuspect, thanks again for your answer, everyone else, thanks in advance!

I am not quite sure if ipimp only uses online streaming. but as it transcodes to an ipod-format (I think with ffmpg), it should be able to save this to a file, too.
maybe you should ask in the ipimp-thread.

Can i record directly in a format which i can import in my iPod
no, mp records mpg-ts. nothing else.
for automatic transcoding you could use a command line tool, like mencoder or ffmpg (as ipimp does) which can be started by the comskip launcher after (or even during) recording.
