Synopsis::

When 2 programs have been set to record, one directly after another, and my settings are so that I have asked MediaPortal to record 5 mins before a show and 5 mins after, Mediaportal stops recording after the first show and forgets the second!

Now, I can't imagine this hasn't been discovered before, so I assume there's something wrong with my setup/config? It would seem better to me, to (even if there is the 5 mins after and 5 mins before setting) stop recording when one program finishes and switch straight to the other as the user has lost nothing in terms of recording.

Every other aspect of MP works perfectly (so thanks to the developers!)

    When two programs were directly after each other and on the right chanel, MP used to keep recording for the extra five (or whatever settings) but also start the other one recording five minutes early as well. It just duplicated the streams to do as requested fo that period.
    At some stage around the release of v0.2 it stopped this behaviour and now just starts the second program recording when the first program finishes (five minutes after) depending on the priority levels.

    I've never seen it simply forget about the second show but I would suggest making the second program a higher priority and see what happens.

    It's a pity, I miss the old way things worked. Now is ok, but if you delete the first show and forget that it contains some of the second show then you're in trouble...

    Trouble!! My WAF goes through the floor when she reaches the end of a recording and its missing the end of the show. This is because of the new behaviour you describe above Marcub. If any of the developers are listening please could we go back to the old way and have the pre and post recording on each recording when they are back to back and on the same channel.

    I'm glad someone else backs me up on this.
    I've brought it up a few times before but noone else had ever noticed the change. I thought I must have been going crazy, but I was certain this was the way it worked.

    Definately, it really needs some attention. I don't think it should be too hard to implement. It must be much easier to record the same channel twice than two different channels.

    Ok, well I've tested this again and just to spite me, it appears to work! Sorry about raising an incorrect bug. Am I at least right in saying that the 'recording' icon dissappears for a while or something similiar as I'm *sure* I've seen that behaviour and manually told it to record quickly so that I don't lose anything?

    And yes, the old behaviour sounds much better, although I imagine slightly more taxing as well?

    A lot less taxing than recording two different channels at the same time and MP can do that quite easily.

    Plus the added benefit of doing exctly what you want it to ;-)
