Hi,
I have a problem with myTv module.
If I use tv section to watch a channel there is no problem.
Yesterday I decided to record a program: so I scheduled mp to record it in 10 minutes. Well the problemis about the record: I can't record anything. I get always the same message: Unable to connect mpg2 pin.
Searching in the forum, this mornig I found that it can be related to the fact I'm using vista (enterprise 32 bit) with uac.
So it seems to me that I have to disable uac and I have to run mp as administrator.
Is it true?
yesterday I was watching another strange thing.
Under tv section in mp configuration (tab recording) I can't find where to set the directory in which to record.
Where is it?

Best regards

You need to click on whichever TVcard you have installed and edit, that will take you to the cards info screen where you can set recording directory.

I am running Vista with UAC disabled, for many reasons, as my pc is used for many things, besides a htpc and the frustration that uac causes for me, it's easier not to have it enabled.

    Thanks very much.
This evening I'll try to disable uac.
I hope this will solve my problems.

It's not a very good solution to tell all Vista users to disable UAC to be able to use MediaPortal. Instead I'd like to know what the problem is. I'm sure it's possible to get MediaPortal to run in Vista with UAC enabled like thousands of other programs.

I have permissions to write to the recording destination folder. Do I need permissions elsewhere?

    Thanks

I have the same problem when I try to record. Using FloppyDTV-card. Will try to disable UAC tonight.

I agree about having to turn off UAC to get programs to install\work correctly, should not happen, but even with administrator priveliges, there are so many things you cannot do without UAC being disabled.

If you search on the internet and want full admin rights, there are ways of enabling full administrator priveleges on installation of Vista leaving UAC enabled, to me that is a much more preferable way of doing things.

I would also advise people to turn UAC back on, once whatever they needed to alter\install was completed.

I've solved this issue by installing TVE3. This way the service, which is run with administrator privileges, does all timeshifting and recording. I can now run the MediaPortal client in normal user mode :)
