It improves the channel switching and/or TV startup time for some tuners, but it doesn't work for other tuners (like yours). We set the default as "pause" in 1.2.0a and 1.2.0b to help us get an idea of how many tuners wouldn't work with the setting, but we'll be setting the default for 1.2.0 final as "stop".
