Recording tv then standby question (2 Viewers)

I am a little stuck. I was recording a tv program the other night and wanted to go to bed, I hit the standby button (s3) and of course the pc switched off. In order to shut down pc after recording what should I have done? Or should I have just left the pc on all night.

A good place to start, I and many others also disable the windows power buttons in control panel for remote, so cannot accidently be turned off

I thought PS supported away mode when recording? Otherwise try PS++ which I know does.

I personally have Mediaportal to shut down (to hybrid sleep) after 5 mins of non-activity and then make sure I tick the box that says only allow sleep only from the homepage.

When I go to bed, all I need to do is make sure that I am on the homepage and that nothing is playing (i.e. recording or live TV) and then Mediaportal will automatically sleep five minutes after the recording has stopped (and of course after any other housekeeping tasks that the PC needs to do, like upgrading the EPG etc.).

Just to also add, if you use the SleepTimer plugin, you can enable that by remote keypress to finish playing music\recorded tv\video file (not live tv unfortunately as not able to read epg info and stream never ends) and automatically return to home screen ready for standby if no recording in progress.
