Is it possible to record TV directly to MPEG-2 format instead of using DVR-MS format using the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150?

I know about the auto compress feature in MP, but shouldnt Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 be able to record directly to MPEG-2?

    Hi,

dvr-ms is MPEG2 with other (MS) headers. So autocompress is somewhat a wrong term. The function only strips out the additional stream infos. Leaving the MPEG2 stream untoched, therefore it is very fast and has no quality loss.

And no, MP cannot record in MPEG2. Its because of the easy implemetation of the stream buffer engine (dvr-ms) for programming.

    Flip.
