Hi folks,

I've been running MediaPortal 1.2.1 for a couple months now and this is the first time this problem has appeared.

I recently noticed that when viewing some recordings, both English and Spanish audio could be heard. After some research, I learned that some programming is broadcast simultaneously in two languages using different audio channels (i.e. English Left, Spanish Right).

Searching the forums, I came across this thread from 2009: Dual channels at same time (english and spanish audio)

The thread suggests setting the AudioDualMonoMode in MediaPortal's Config program to playback one language. Is there a setting similar to the AudioDualMonoMode in TVServer to record only the English channel? I don't normally watch the recordings in MediaPortal, but transcode them to mp4 to view on other devices.

I've since upgraded to 1.2.2 but is there anything else I might check?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi and welcome HTPCSquared :)

No, there is no option for that - it could be quite tricky because from the TV Server's perspective it is only one audio stream. It doesn't have the insight about the audio-dual-mono nature that MP has. You'll need to find some post processing software that can manipulate the audio stream...

Hi mm and thanks for the welcome.

Looking at ffmpeg's and mencoder's man pages, it seems it might be possible to separate the audio channels using different switches. I have some experimenting to do with both but I'll post back if/when I find a solution.

    Thanks again for the info.
