Most recordings I make are only temp for a week or so and then are deleted. I have 300GB reserved for TV recordings so space is not the issue. If I want to keep a show I would like a nice Divx/Xvid/Mpg file. If I choose to keep a file I will just leave the recording on the HDD. I'd like a process that monitors the age of the files and then kicks off a script in the background that takes any file that is xx days old and then processes it (with the already created comskip files created using MP) then compresses it and moves the file. I'd be happy with a script that just makes a check once a day for files and if it finds old enough files, it then processes the file and deletes the original (if set to do so).I have read a few threads with similar processes as above using mencoder, comclean, dirmon etc but I don't know how I would be able to apply this to files that are 14 days old and not recent recordings. I would have thought this would have been something most people that use MP with TV would have had sorted already.I will come up with a solution, I always do. But if I can get some help or pointers it would make it much easier. I am not looking for perfectly edited files or anything, just a way to save files for later. I can manually edit files I want to keep.</blockquote>
