Hi,

I've been using mediaportal happily for quite a while, but only for playback of media. I have been thinking of ditching my sky subscription and getting a dvb-s card. Can anyone recommend the best card? Also are the digital teletext and red button features available in the same way through mediaportal?

Teletext, I don't know. However Red Button and the interactive content is not supported.

There was a community project to get it working, putting together the MHEG rendering engine etc. but this didn't really get anywhere. I think the problem was integrating it into MediaPortal itself. It would likely have completely broken the TV viewing and would have needed a significant rewrite. I think there will be better support for adding this kind of functionality in MP2, although that is some way off yet.

Although the red button is not supported, I believe you can watch the streamed video that is supplied via the red button as those channels are streamed to an individual frequency (301, 302 etc for BBC from memory). You should then be able to rename those channels to "BBC REDBUTTON 1" or something more catchy.

I haven't done this myself, but my father has and I am pretty sure it works.
