Good evening,

I recently installed MediaPortal on a a brand new machine. Its been quite a while since I last dabbled and it seems a lot has changed.

Basically this machine is stand alone, yet I've somehow managed to install the media server which I really dont need. This means that setting up the EPG is a little more difficult than need be. Basically I have a few questions.

Am I able to safely uninstall MediaPortal and TV-server and reinstall just MediaPortal? If so, where do I find it these days?

Also, setting up a Harmony 525 remote with MediaPortal, has anyone done this recently and been successful? All I've managed to do is get the Xbox 360 to turn on (accidentally) which is sitting next to the media box.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can install just the in-built TV engine (TVE2).

Start by uninstalling everything, then run the v1.0.0.0 RC1 install again, but this time, select "NO" to the question about High Definition TV - then you will get the option to install the in-built TV engine rather than the default TV Server. I know this seems illogical, but I haven't been able to convince the developers that we don't need the TV Server to watch HD TV in Australia - the HD option should really refer to h.264 encoded HD TV ... not to all HD TV.

Ah, fantastic... thank you very much! I'm assuming when you say uninstall everything to include MySQL as well, as I dont see myself using this in the future.

    Yes, that's correct.

In fact, I would go as far as deleting the remaining \Team MediaPortal\ folder, reboot the PC and start again. Your existing settings should be retained (in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal folder), but it would be wise to make a backup before you do the uninstall, just in case you need to retrieve any settings, etc ...
