Remote control & laptop (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I'm using a laptop as HTPC and wondering if I could use my LG home theater in a box remote as a substitute for MCE remote.

I downloaded IR Server Suite but couldn't make it work.

I assume I just can use my laptop's IR as receiver and somehow IR Server Suite will translate the signal of my remote to keyboard stroke or command?

Tried to learn the remote but it just doesn't work (time out)

The problem is that laptop IR is used for data transfer so u cannot use it with remote. Correct me if i'm wrong, but some time ago i read about that somewhere. I've used my laptop as HTPC too, used BT cellphone control, speech control, webcam movement recognition (sweaty), USB remote receiver, game controllers etc. But i got to the conclusion that Laptop IR port cannot be used with ir remote.

What software do you use for BT phone control?

I think it was BluePortal. There are many others like that found with some searching. Gotta love the variety of opportunities with MP
