Hi - I have a Speedlink SL-6399 remote control that i bought to use with windows media centre. This type of remote emulates the keyboard shortcuts (as i understand it) because of this it will not work with MP as such. Is there a way to re-assign the MP shortcuts to correspond with those of WMC so that the remote will perform the same functions?

I believe you'll need a program like EventGhost to intercept the signals and convert them to the Mediaportal keyboard shortcuts. That assumes that Eventghost supports your remote which, if it's a MC compliant remote, it should.

Did you try enabling it as HID device under MP config\remote, then keyboard settings should work.

If not then try irserversuite (use search), which pretty much does what eventghost does, but slightly better

I got that remote, and it is a real PITA.

I think the Genereic keyboard plugin worked OK, but dev of this has stopped. Also, it toggles between mouse/keyboard via one button (can't remember which). IRSS' Abstractor could/should work, I think.

If I have much time (probably not gonna happen for some time) I'll dig into it sometime.
