Greetings all
I have been thinking of using my Dell M60 as a kinda "portable htpc" and
was wondering if it is possible to have an mce style remote work with it.
One that, of course, can control MP. I guess I'd have to find some sort of
usb ir reciever or greentooth or something. Has anyone here tried such a
thing?

Also, I was looking for a usb tv tuner to use with said laptop.
Right now Im leaning to the WinTV-USB 125 Channel TV Tuner
because its the only one I've seen so far that has FM radio
(I like to use radio probably more than tv) Has anyone had
any experience with this particular unit. Or have any recomendations?
Thanks for the help

OK, nevermind dumb question.
Did a little research and there are several tv tuners with radio AND remote which seem
to be ok with a laptop. Namely the Hauppauge WinTVPVR USB2 which according to the
wiki here has be tested with MP and works with it. Guess thats what I want then.
Has anyone tried one of these things?

Still a question lurks...
What I have read about this device so far gives me the impression that the remote
control ONLY controls the win tv tuner and nothing else. ie I cant scroll up and down
MP's menu and make other selections (play music, radio ripped videos etc.)
Can anyone confirm this for me? I've never used a tuner in a pc before so Im totally
in the dark here.
Is this behavior typical of all tuner cards?
If such a device does not allow me to control MP, is there some other
device I can plug into a usb port that will allow me to control MP?
Thanks for any input.

I ended up using USBUIRT with a standard Hauppauge remote and that seems to work just fine with Media Portal. I did try to get the remote working using the inbuilt Infra Red port on my XPS1330 but gave up. The USBUIRT was the easy solution. Just google it.

Cheers Mike
