Hi guys, I usually put my HTPC in standby before I go to bed and when I turn it on the next day the remote doesn't function in MP or Windows but it still gets power ie the little red light on the Ir lights when when pressing a button but nothing happens in MP.

I always have to unplugged the IR then plug it in back in and it works perfectly any ideas? This also occurs in hibernation thanks! :)

does the IR receiver get power while the PC is asleep?
Even when hibernating, the IR unit should flash a red light in response to remote signals.

I think you need to check out the MB manual. The MCE remote needs to be plugged in to a USB port that retains power when the PC is off.

This first of all has to be set in the MB, either in BIOS or by jumpers.
Then the tool linked above will determine if Windows is also shutting down the receiver.
