Not too sure if this has already been posted, but I have been a MCE (Vista) user (I am tight, or skint), due to the lack of purchasing a MCD Blaster remote (I have 2 Trust 2400 remotes which work well under Vista). I have finally come across a solution (albeit a partial solution) with remotes that use 'snowflakeemulation' Please read the following: (just for your information this works on a WinXP system with SP3. If you already have Windows XP SP3 installed, try without running the Hotfix. 1) Insert USB IRreciever into USB port 2) Windows will complain, so visit Device Manager 3) Click on the 'snowflakeemulation' device and update driver 4) You need to manually add the driver, so do not auto-search etc 5) Find 'Microsoft' in the Vendor list, and you should see 'eHome Infrared Receiver' if so, install driver 6) Download and install HIP : ByRemote 7) Configure HIP to use MCD Remote, then configure your program to use. If you are running Windows XP SP2, then try this. 1) Download this windows fix Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 it contains the necessary drivers. 2) Launch the .exe but not complete the install. The fix auto extracts the files in c:\92834o584 or a similar directory. 3) Copy the folder from c:\ to your desktop (if necessary unlock files with unlocker: UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB) 4) Now install the driver manually for "snowflakeemulation", search it in "Desktop\92834o584\SP2QFE\ip. 5) From driver list select "Microsoft" vendor and search "eHome infrared receiver" 6) Download and install HIP : ByRemote 7) Configure HIP to use MCD Remote, then configure your program to use. Now your Remote is working. Though it isn't relavant here, this also fixes MCE 2005 'snowflakeemulation' remote problems. More to follow when I have messed with it a while.
