Remote suggestions? (1 Viewer)

I just set MP up on an older laptop in the basement connected to a 27" TV for the kids to watch their movies. So far I'm really impressed, but I'd like some suggestions on a CHEAP (<10$) remote solution. I've seen MCE IR remotes on ebay and enough posts about configuration. Are there any models or suggestions for an easy solution?
Thank you!

ANY remote suggestions would be helpful. I've seen a bunch on ebay but I'd hate to order something from China, wait two weeks to find out that it's not compatible.
Any suggestions?

    Hi Matt,

I have three MCE remotes, and all bought on eBay and come via China. I just made sure that they were listed as MCE Remote (RC6) - I think the last one I got was about $15 excluding postage.

Bear in mind that I run Win7, and this can have a bearing on the ease of setup. Although I just plug in the receiver in to a USB port, check the MCE Remote box in the MP Config settings and away it goes. I use one on each of the three MP systems I have and never had any problems.

    Hi,

I have been working in win7 and MCE remote for some time now but have never managed to get the info or back button to work. I have tried a number of win7 remotes but all are the same - is the (RC6) the key here? can anybody recommend a particular remote (I don't mind paying for a good one)...

Do you own a smart phone? I know for a fact Android has several remote solutions on their marketplace. It might be worth looking into.

lol yes my "droid" is my internet I have 4g and have it rooted to give me wifi tether... lol so I cannot mess with it while it is routing the internet to my wireless router everything is plugged into.. hmm I came back to edit..
just to be clear I purchsed my droid for full price.. it's owned by me.. (not from a discount to get srvice or upgrade) <<< that makes the phone the property of the service and illegal to root.. mine is mine so leagal.
