Hi,

I just installed MP and am trying to get it working.

Problem description:

At start following message occurs:

"
Warning: Nothing will be rendered.
The reference rendering device was selected but your computer has a reduced functionality reference device.
Please check if your graphics card and drivers meet the minimum system requirements. a software device that implements the entire Direct 3D feature set, but runs very slowly.
"

After clocking OK MP start without being able to display anything except the menu.

Troubleshooting:

- Reviewed the requierements and tried to install everything listed.
- I have manually installed DirectX rfom the link provided.
- in configuration 'Codecs and Renderer' switched Video Renderer between VMR9 and EVR --> no change
- updated graphic card driver from device manager

searched other post:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...error-msg-warning-nothing-will-rendered-7646/
and tested some of the suggestions found here:

- set hardware acceleration to full --> same issue at start
- in dxdiag - display all 3 DirectX Options are activated
- delayed start in MP config\general\delay - 15 sec at start

Thank you for any hints.

LE: I have added system preferences to the profile, they do not show up here, probably thay are accessible from profile

    Hi ursuverde

    Welcome to the forum. :)
What video card do you have, and what drivers are you using for it?
The message that you're seeing usually indicates that DirectX is not supported by the video card hardware, not supported by the video card driver, or it is not installed correctly. Please use the "debug mode" link in the MediaPortal folder in your start menu to collect your logs. Use the 3rd option to export all your logs to a zip file on your desktop, then post the zip file here. There are more specific instructions -->here<--.

[Edit: you have to make the system specifications visible for us to be able to see them. The important information would be included with your logs.]

    Hi,

sorry if I am missing some steps, I am new to this forum.

I can't find an option to make the system specs visible, neither in post options or in the profile settings - sorry if this is something basic.
I have also been reviewing the requierements list and have installed manually this:
Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX Redist (June 2010)

in the dxdiag window I can see "DirectX Version: DirectX 11"

    Video card:
    ATI ASUS 9250

    driver:
    6.14.0010.6458

I hope this card is compatible with what is needed.

The .zip file with the requested logs is attached.

    Thank you

The Software Level of your card may report DX11, but this is not what your HARDWARE supports! The card you are trying to run MP on is too old and in no way powerful enough.

    Hi again ursuverde

Rekenaar is absolutely right - your video card hardware only supports DirectX 8.1. The minimum requirement for MediaPortal is DirectX 9, so unfortunately you will need to buy a new video card if you want to use MediaPortal. The reason why DXDiag says that your system supports DirectX 11 is because you've installed the latest DirectX 11 redistributable. The redistributable adds DirectX 11 support with a software layer, however the software layer is not fast enough to support MediaPortal's requirements - you need *hardware* support...

    hi guys,

thank you for the clarification, I really was enthusiastic about this software.

Is there a previous version of Media Portal available which is supporting DirectX 8.1?
I remember I had used Media Portal a few years ago and for sure the video card was not more up to date than this one.

Thanks again and wish you a nice evening.

    Hi again

You could try MP 1.0.2 or 0.2.3. They're available from SourceForge. We won't be able to provide support for those versions...

thank you, it is rendering with version 0.2.3, 1.0.2 is also requiring probably DX 9.
I will use this one :)

btw. I am working in customer support as well and must say I am thrilled by the quick response time in this thread.
