What i see here is a App store constantly growing, exponentially, and then it crossed my mind: "What if i could launch Moving Pictures or My TV Series" straight from the Modern UI, having their tiles lined up next to native apps from Netflix, HBO, Spotify etc. The MP team could still develop the Live-TV, but as an app. This would probably take away a lot of programming for the core of MP, using Win8's framework. It would be easier to keep it up to date for Win9, Win10 etc. Of course, this would take away some of the customization features of MP, and it would probably split up the community to several independent groups. That's a shame as this is maybe the best part of MP, the community. I know my suggestion would turn everything upside down, but i also believe that mediaportal could live up to its name and reputation, and be a community where htpc enthusiasts and programmers can come to help each other out, share ideas and knowledge and develop kickass htpc apps for the whole world, not just us htpc geeks.
This might come off as offensive, but i don't want it to. I've been using MP myself a lot since v1.0, and still do. Recently, i've upgraded my HTPC to Win8, and i'm currently getting used to this new Metro/Modern UI. There's also a possibility of making good money here for some of you, but i don't believe that's what keeps you guys going. One thing that has also crossed my mind, is if MS would deny these apps into their market. That would have been a bummer, lol. But i've been thinking about this for the last few weeks, and tough i should share it with you guys. And if you have a lot of good arguments against my idea, please, make fun of me and tell me how stupid i am :)
