Request: Getting started guide (1 Viewer)

I haven't been using this forum for very long at all yet but I am hard pressed to find any real guide that tells me how to setup MediaPortal. For instance, if I want to have a separate movie database, short clips database, television database, etc and have them separate in the menu structure somhow, how on earth do I do that? Maybe it is so easy I am missing this but I am assuming not.

Also, how do I launch external programs? I'd like to launch BeyondTV from Mediaportal but am not sure how to get started....unless the built-in TV is just as good and better integrated that is.

I guess I just have no clue where to start. If I'm like that there has to be several others. Thanks.

the views:

I have set up the video to folder my movies. In there I have subfolders like movies, documentations, toons.
These folders are shown when entering the video section. So I have a menu structure like the one you want.
Remark: It is of course no database view. And it is not possible to have this right on the home screen, if that is the way it is with meedio.

For TV recordings, I have specified another directory.

Maybe a start.
