Hello I have a Benq w100 projector and it's native resolution is 854X480. My HD5450 doesn't support that resolution and the only supported resolution with the same aspect ratio is 720p. Nearly all of my content is 480p.

Right now I'm using 720p but it seems to create artifacts and tearing. If I change the resolution to 800x600 the quality seems better but then the aspect ratio is wrong. I can then change it in mediaportal, but my experience with this is that some movies are hard to get right by adjusting the aspect ratio in media portal.

I know there's a program called powerstrip but it seems like too much of a hasle (and is not free).

What should I do? Any suggestions?

    Hello,

I had an similar problem (have a 16:9 Plasma with a 4:3 resolution), cause of that I developed I.F.C., maybe you want to have a look at this plugin, default settings should fit your environment.

    Greets.

    Hi bgst

...it's native resolution is 854X480. My HD5450 doesn't support that resolution...
Are you sure? I have an HD4670 and I'm using Catalyst 10.4, and I can use 848x480 (see the attached screenshot).

IFC is awesome though, so definitely give that a try even if your card really doesn't support the resolution :)thx: Marvman!!! :D).

Thanks. I cannot see 848x480 anywhere in the control center, but I will try some other version. But the 4670 is a high end card right? That could be the explanation.

I will try to look into IFC as well.

    Hi again

I cannot see 848x480 anywhere in the control center...
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful - I still use this older version of Catalyst simply because I have no real reason to upgrade. It seems to work perfectly for me. Unfortunately it won't help you find the right setting in the new versions of Catalyst which have the different layout...

But the 4670 is a high end card right?
Mid-range really. You can see the full 4*** series listed -->here<--. It might be only one step up from your card...

Thanks, I managed to create a custom resolution for my pjs native resolution but for some reason it was recognized as wrong resolution by the pj.

Anyways, I think that my video quality problems are due to something else than the resolution. Now I have enabled aero and it seems better.
