Resuming paused movie stops it (1 Viewer)

I have a weird problem: I cannot resume paused movie.

After I press play button to continue watching, it will freeze for a moment and then stop (it will return to movie info screen).

And what is worse: after playing it again, it will not offer me to continue from last point (unlike regular stop button), so I have to seek through whole movie again to find spot where I left.

Any idea, what could be causing this? I now have to stop movie each time and then continue from last position instead of pausing, which is a bit annoying.

I'm not sure when exactly this started happening, but it was after I updated MP and plugins.

Was one of the plugins OnlineVideos and did it auto-install LAV? Because you might have ended up in what is lovingly named "codec-hell". I had the same problem and took me a while to get rid of LAV and restore my preferred codec setup back to its glory.

Just wanna say thank you for this answer, it helped me. I went back to my old set-up and everything is fine again
