I just really need to get rid of this OEM POS I got off my dad. He got two with his new Gateway and it works, but only for a dozen or so button presses and then stops responding. The IR receiver still blinks, it just doesn't do anything. I've even tried one of the IR code identify programs to try and reprogram the remote. It does that same thing. I just can't figure out what's wrong. Everything works fine for awhile and then nothing.
So I'm looking at getting a new HTPC remote, something expandable to work with some simple home things like light controllers and such. Does any one have any suggestions for what might work? The only real thing that I need is that it has all the MCE buttons. RF would be nice if possible. The setup I have limits the IR receive area so I have to point in a certain direction to get it to work and then that's only when it decides to work.
Any suggestions and maybe price points to look out for would be nice. I have been kind of staring at the Harmony ONE, but I'm not sure about it. It's not RF, but it's a nice looking device with expandable properties.
