Taken this bit of interesting info from Gizmodo:

"If you're not familiar with Sideshow, it's one of Windows Vista's features that lets you display gadgets and view photos and music on devices connected to the PC. In this case, the RICAVISION remote uses Bluetooth to pipe Sideshow information from your Vista Media Center onto the display itself.

Better than the Philips SideShow remote, this one atually displays color and has a 100-meter operating range. The fact that it has SideShow essentially lets people program applications for the remote, meaning it's quite extensible even compared with other learning remotes.

Does this seem very inriguing only for me? ;)

    Actually that seems very interesting.

I see that the same company is offering the slideshow module for building into a PC (I think it was originally designed for laptops but could be placed into a HTPC instead of the LCD screens) and with the right development within MediaPortal it would look very nice as a complete Home Theater!

    1. I read in Gizmodo that you'll be able to get one for $199USD in April
    2. I don't know - I did see that Asus will be offering a motherboard with a slideshow module - http://event.asus.com/vista_ready/index.htm. It will be interesting if XP can control it - but my guess is no since Microsoft my clamp down as that being a Vista only feature. We will have to wait.

I'm getting me one of those.
Hope MP will support it soon! I like the idea with the EPG on the remote!

    ok - Reviving thread..

You can now get, or preorder, the first Wave 100 Sideshow remote - And at US$ 349, if it would be possible to make it work with MP - I'd say that's a pretty fair price.. It's nowhere near as cool as the, as of yet, only announced, Vista Sideshow remote - But as far as I can tell, only design separetes them..

The Remote functions I see no issue in getting done, it's more writing the simplified MP interface for the remote, as well as sending data to the remote...

http://www.ricavision.com/sideshow.html - Sideshow Remote - Not available yet
    http://www.ricavision.com/vave100.html - Wave 100 - Available for preorder
    http://www.ricavisionplix.com/VAVE100_Universal_Remote_Control_p/vave100.htm - Wave 100 preorder page.

Anyway - Who can write a nifty BlueTooth enabled interface for MP ? (-:

    Hi Guys,

Is there any news about this remote and can MP be configured to use the Vave100 and sideShow?

Well, the module itself could be used very nicely for an external status display but US$ 350 FOR A REMOTE
Well that's a lot of bucks for mainly "just a remote"

    Hi,

Yes it is a lot of money, but I want to get MP running so that I do not have switch on the TV if I want to play music or select a radio station, or to program a show that has to be recorded.

If Sideshow gadgets can work MP using A sideshow remote (i.e. the Vave100) then that would make life easier, would't you think?

So, Can I use this remote allready to do the things I want to do? Or do I have to wait?

    regards,
    Robert

I am waiting for Logitech to release a Harmony with Sideshow. Who knows, maybe the succesor to the 880/890 has sideshow. If the Harmony one is a sign of what is coming in the future I am hopeful :)
