I've just started using mediaportal and love it so far. The only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to rip CD's to MP3. I couldn't find any documentation that said it supports it but there is an area in the music set up to configure import settings. I tried downloading a seperate lame binary in case it wasn't included with mediaportal with no luck. What am I missing?

Thanks

You have to configure this in setup. I don't have acces to my HTPC at the moment, but I use it almost every week and it's working perfectly.

You can start ripping from the contextmenu when you're browing the CD you'd like to rip (rightclick or the "i" button on your MS MCE remote).

Thanks for the reply but I still need a little help. In my settings I have import into database checked and the library folder points to my music. Encoder settings are set to a target bitrate of 320. When I right click the only options i have are add to favorites, add this album to playlist, lookup cd info and copy now playing spam to clipboard.

I'm sure I'm missing something easy but can't seem to figure out what it is.

You can't do it in 'now playing'. You have to be in shares view and open the cd, then you can bring out the context menu (right click) and the option will be there. Good luck!

If you are OK with OGG-format ("better" than MP3, from what I heard), try this plugin (not sure if it works with 0.2.2.0, though...)

    Very easy to use.

That's what I was doing wrong. Never thought to pull the CD from the shares view. Thanks for your help.

Would be great if you got this option when inserting an audio-CD:
    [Do nothing] [Play] [Rip]
