The manual says to leave the launching application field blank (# Launching Application: <none> (!)) and put the exe to launch in the file entry. However the file launcher dialog insists on the field being entered. How do I run an app?

I have the same problem...can't launch an app...

I have the same problem...can't launch an app...I tried every configuration, I still get an empty "folder" in MP. Can't launch an external application.

Re: I have the same problem...can't launch an app...

Hi,

ok here's a howto for launching iexplore.exe using a filelauncher module

Code:
1) Launch Configuration.exe,
    select "plugins",
    select "myPrograms",
click "setup" button to enter myPrograms Setup
2) Select the root entry "my Programs"
3) Click "Add Child" => "Filelauncher"
=> a new detail tab appears asking for Filelauncher details
4) Enter a title ("applications")
   leave the "Launching Application" empty,
   check "Startup using ShellExecute"
5) Click the "FILES" tab
6) Click the "New" button
   => a detail screen appears
7) Enter "Internet Explorer" in the title field
Enter "iexplore.exe" in the filename field
   Click OK
8) To test launching:
   Select the "Internet Explorer" item
   Click the LAUNCH-Button
=> this should launch Internet Explorer
if not, check the LOG-Files for errors
That's it! Not very straightforward, but it works...

Now you can see the item in MP!

Hope that helps,

Daniel

Just for those who are as dump as me:
* put the filename between brackets (as waeberd pointed out)
* switch of mediaportal always on top (in general mediaportal settings)

then this plugin works great!

I tried waeberd method a few posts above, and it doesnt work. I can click on 'applications' and there I see an empty choice (a line like something is there, but no text). If I click on that I seem to open another folder where I see an 'internet explorer' entry but clicking on it does nothing...if I try 'launch' from the program configuration it works ok.

Anyone managed to fix this? any advice? maybe another way of just launching an exe file...
