Hi,

Is there ANY way to get MediaPortal to run remotely? It doesn't have to work WELL, just get the menu to show properly so I can experiment with things and work on plugins when I'm not at home.

Do anyone know a way to do this? (If it also works in Linux that would be great!) The problem is with DirectX. Remote Desktop doesn't work at all, and VNC just shows garbage. Any other suggestions?

I've got RealVNC and it works great, not garbage.

Maybe it's just the particular VNC you've got...

Hmm. Wich version do you use? I downloaded the latest free version.
Attached screenshot shows what it looks like..

Are both your computers running windows? Maybe it's because my viewer is on linux..

    Fixed it! :D

I checked 'use protol version 3.3' under Legacy, and now it works like a charm! :)

Yeah, it works great for me as well now. I use RealVNC with the 3.3 protocol.
The new protocol didn't work properly, but that may have to do with me running Linux on the client.

So u can view the TV image remotely etc?

coesnt work with RDP the activex hates it so MP doesnt even load.

Might switch remote clients if it works well.

No, RDP doesn't support DirectX so that won't work at all.
With VNC the program works fine, but of course it's way too slow to watch video remotely.

But it's good for testing stuff and for controlling the program remotely. I've started using my laptop more than my cordless keyboard whenever I need a keyboard or more control than my remote will give me.
