I have read a lot of post in the forum regarding this problem but I dont found a solution for my problem.

I have tried onboard sound with optical out that gives me just stereo,
the InnoAX audioExtreme 5.1 dosent work at all with digital out.
Tha last I tried was Hercules Fortissiomo III 7.1 and I got stereox2.

I connect the card to my Logitech Z-5500 Digital speaker system.

I have installed FFDSHOW-2004-10-12 and tried to enable AC3 but I dont get anything in 5.1.

Do I need another player or another codec?

When I listen to music I want stereox2 and when I looking at movies I want to have 5.1
I have tried some DVD's that I know is 5.1 but I just got stereox2.

Are my soundcards just crap or?

I think I should buy AUZENTECH HDA X-MYSTIQUE 7.1 GOLD is this card working good with mediaportal?

If the formats do have AC3, then thats what you should be getting. Everything else will be in stereo. Ive got Nvidia purevideo decoder + AVI<->AC3 Directshow filter and thats worked on everything Ive thrown at it (reguarding audio).

I use my onboard S/PDIF, but via coax. It’s got nothing to do with the sound card its’ self as S/PDIF is just raw information that is sent to your receiver/amp so that the amp does all the hard work of decoding.

I found that when I started setting things up using FFDshow I got DD5.1 out by selecting a few options. Off the top of my head(as I’m not hear my HTPC) there were some setting that needed to be changed to say that you wish to get 5.1 out. On the down turn when I got movies playing in DD and DTS the music wound play “funny†, I wound hear just digital clutter.

As Callifo has stated to use Purevideo from nVidia. By using this it changes the SPDIF to what ever I’m playing so now I get DTS,DD and PCM when plying music and they all play great. The only thing I had to do is set it up was to say that I wish to output it via coax.
