If so then the lack of volume control means you are using SPDIF pass through when using mpaDecFilter.ax  This is the desired effect of SPDIF passthrough, as your htpc doesn't do any processing of the sound, it is passed straight to the receiver.  If AC3 adds volume control then it means that you are adding additional processing/decoding/reencoding to the sound signal.</p></blockquote><p></p>
