Therefore I made a rather radical approach: <strong>I removed all non system codecs / DirectShow filters with ZomPlayer prior to installing SAF, without the need to reinstall Win XP, MediaPortal, or any other software on my machine!</strong></p><p></p><p><strong>If you wanna try out the same, always make a complete backup of your system drive beforehand changing anything at your system</strong> (that's at least what I did, even though I didn't need the backup at the end).</p><p></p><p>Okay this procedure removed all my problems (so far I found only one video that didn't play; all my TV recordings that had been converted to H264 are now in sync!):</p><p></p><p>1) BackUp your system drive with Norton Ghost, or something similar (lots of freeware is available out there)!</p><p>2) remove everything that comes with a codec (players, PWDVD, FFDshow, Haali, etc) from your system with an uninstaller (e.g. RevoUninstaller, or some similar Freeware, etc)</p><p>3) download & install the latest free version of <a href="http://www.videohelp.com/download/zp502std.exe" target="_blank">ZoomPlayer</a>)</p><p></p><p>***(the following steps are from the <a href="http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/index.php?title=Troubleshooting_Guide" target="_blank">CCCP support site</a>)*********************************************************</p><p>4) Start ZoomPlayer without having any file open.</p><p>5) Go right click -> Options and make sure the advanced mode is enabled.</p><p>6) Go to the System -> Filter Management tab and then press "Registered Filter Manager".</p><p>7) Select all filters in the list using the shift key and press "Unregister Filter(s)". This will most likely show a dialog too big for your monitor so just press enter to proceed.</p><p>8) After this nuking, you have to restore the system filters which you do by clicking "Re-Register System Filters". </p><p></p><p>*** (after this step you might notice that no codecs are available in MP anymore)******</p><p></p><p>9) download & install SAF; restart system</p><p>10) configure MediaPortal</p><p>11) have fun!</p><p></p><p>Cheers,</p><p></p><p>Craig</p><p></p><p>P.S.: The CCCP-Team doesn't say for no reason that "this should only be done when everything else fails.
