Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

When I open the file in graphstudio video is "undetermined" but audio is loading as english, both connecting to ffdshow. Do you think it needs to be reencoded?

thanks Hoborg!

Can you provide small sample?

Looks like the smallest sample it'll let me create is 12M, not sure why. here's a link. I hope this isn't too big for you!
Sample.zip - Windows Live

Oh, I forgot to mention, I was able to open the file and play it in windows media player in Windows 7, just not in MP without an error.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I cannot get the embedded subtitles in one of my video files to work... I'm using the latest SAF version, and have applied the various MPC-HC patches to my MP files.

If I play them in WMP they don't show either, but when I right click ffdshow DXVA button and enable subtitles they do.

I have included a sample of the file.

    Hi hoburg,

since 2008 AC3 is also supported in mp4 files. But i can't get this to work in WMP or MP - also not with SAF. With VLC these files play fine... any idea or chance to get this fixed?

    > when i install MP4 Splitter it is working - any chance that you integrate this into SAF?
:-( seems only to work with downloaded mp4 files not while streaming them :-(

    ISSUE
I have troubleshooted a bit with some files that I can't get working and I've narrowed it down to it being related to the file having multiple audio streams. In GraphStudio they play fine, MP logs don't show anything dirty. The problem is that when I press play the screen turns black for a second or so after which it returns to MovPic screen and the movie is marked as watched. Same thing happens in MyVideos.

What could be up? Anyone know whether this is a known issue in MP? I have this in both x264 and VC-1 files I know of.
EDIT: It seems this is caused by MPC... other that had this as well have fixed it with Haali.

Are there any distinct advantages to using this version? I read the changelog and the fist page but it does not seem to give a good reason to upgrade? I know thats it currently very early in the development but other then to help find bugs why should I use this over SAF 4 final?

Same functions as SAF 4.00, but MPC-HC decoder was replaced by FFDshow DXVA decoder.

You can download experimental builds here (updated 04.03.10) - changelog here.

What is new in SAF 5.00?
+FFDShow DXVA decoder - based on great MPC-HC decoder. It is most advanced free and open source DXVA (h.264 + VC-1) available.
+DXVA + subtitles in all DirectShow based players
+Auto update your DirectX version to latest version available durning SAF install
+Pack SAF logs in to one file
    +better AVI support
    +?faster? opening of MKV/AVI

    From first post....

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hey hoborg,

I used SAF 4 final until this morning. I had the problem that 1080i channels showed stuttering and expecially PowerDVD 9 codec only gave me 25 fps. I did a clean install of my system using Windows 7 instead of Windows Vista. I installed 1.1.0 RC1 and SAF 4 Final but the problem was still there. Then I used SAF 5 and everything looks perfect right now.

The thing is: I am still using PowerDVD 9 codec, so nothing has changed there. The only difference is that in my MP control under the codecs section I can now actually make adjustments to the Cyberlink codec. That option wasn't available before. Ever heard of this? I think I remember using a SAF 4 beta version and I had that option but it disappeared after I upgraded to SAF 4 final.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

edit: I thought perhaps SAF 4 has a problem there and switched to SAF 5, but its the same... I also think its not a SAF-problem but hoborg, my m8, you are the master of Codec! :D

    I have a problem!

I ripped a Bluray to *.ts and renamed it to *.mkv! I can play it in MPC without a problem (ffdshow video and audio)... but in MediaPortal the graph doenst even start, the same if ffdshow or pdvd is selected. I cant look at the graph, cause it doesnt open!

    Here is the error-log:

    Code:
2010-03-27 15:08:52.439988 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: VideoPlayer9: Exception while creating DShow graph Der Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt. bei DShowNET.Helper.DirectShowUtil.TryConnect(IGraphBuilder graphbuilder, IBaseFilter source, Guid mediaType, IBaseFilter targetFilter)
bei DShowNET.Helper.DirectShowUtil.TryConnect(IGraphBuilder graphbuilder, IBaseFilter source, Guid mediaType, String targetFilter)
       bei MediaPortal.Player.VideoPlayerVMR9.GetInterfaces()

    I read VideoPlayerVMR9 but i have Win7 x64 with EVR enabled.... its strange! :(

    Any ideas? Thx in advance!

ps: The Video is VC-1 and audio DTS-HD, resampled as i said, MPC can do it!

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi pals, I've been having this problem for a few days : subtitles won't work

Either I choose to disable mpc-hc subtitles engine in mediaportal config and subtitles will display (but only in english and there's no way I can switch to another language) or I choose to enable mpc-hc subtitles engine and then no subtitle will display (but mediaportal allows me to switch between subtitles while playing a movie, but won't display any of them)

    (graph is attached)

for the info, it only happens when I play blu-ray discs
