Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I'm having slight audio sync problems using this on (all) MKV's... I'm using passthrough with SPDIF.
Is there any way to fix this?

I think this is caused by ffdshow audio. I've experienced this as well. No problems with ac3filter/mpchc at all.

I guess that means the same problem exists in SAF 4.00 as well?

If you have audio/video sync issue wth passthrough enabled, you can add audio delay in FFDshow config.
I really cannot help you with that...

You can try to cantact FFDshow team and report your issue. If they will be able to reproduce, i bet they will fix it.

Can it be that with MPC-HC splitters now view modes don't always work correctly? I have some 4:3 videos, these stretched fine before, but since I installed this SVN they don't stretch. Can this be SAF or should I look somewhere else?

I wonder since Intelligent Frame Correction doesn't 'fix' all files anymore...

    Hello again, Hoborg.

I had some problem with 4.00 Stable. The package was not configured for Norwegian Win7. When I'm trying 5.00 I'm getting the same trouble. After configuring MP to use ffdshow it is Microsoft DTV-DVD filter GraphStudio shows when playing mkv files. If I try to view a .avi file (do belive that it is xvid codec) it is MPC - Avi Splitter and Mpeg4s Decoder DMO GraphStudio is using.

    I'm on Win7 Home Premium 32bit - Norwegian and MP 1.1.0 RC1.

The "trick" from 4.00 with renaming nb-NO to de-DE is not working.

    Best regards
    A

Send me your SAF logs please.

Well, open your video in graphstudio - is aspect correct here?

    Sorry, I forgot them.

But here they are. I've added a screenshot from regedit.

Thanks. You have 2 languages installed and i think that is the problem (SAF is confused).
I will post you test version, so please try it.

    @ hoborg
you wrote that the MP subtitle engine has to be changed, that the new splitter works properly. i can confirm this. i have a lot of subtitles i cant choose anymore.
but is this planed by the MP team? till this happens , is it maybe possible to choose the splitter during SAF installation? because i dont want to lose the subtitle function.

No, i dont. SAF is standalone solution. It is on MP to support SAF function (MPC splitters) not to SAF support MP...
As i wrote - hope FFDShow team will add keyboard shortcut to switch between subtitles tracks, so this will be supported on any DirectShow player undepended on player GUI.

Currently there is no plans to add MPC splitter support (at least for the 1.1.0 release since it has been in feature freeze for "few" months already).

What comes to the ffdshow supporting the stream swithing... just think about how the users are going to provide the keyboard shortcuts with remote controls? It will require extra software in addition to MP to allow users to send those events. Not suitable for users who need codec packs in the first place.

And what comes to MP to support something in SAF, it wont happen for SAF. MP might support some more splitters in the future, but not because SAF uses those. MP's existence is not for SAF :)
