AW: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Just upgrade from SAF 4 to SAF 5 - well, great! Everything's working now :)

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I have just built a new PC and I am having problems setting up my ATI 5450 GPU with SAF (running XP SP3 with MP 1.1.3 and SAF5 SVN20110214_mscv2010. When I try to install SAF I get the following message during install
"Cannot move extract: It is being used by another person or program. Close and programs that might be using the file and try again"
then right at the end of the installation I get
"Unable to execute the required file: The followng system error has occurred: The system cannot find the file specified (2)"
and then finally when I am asked if I want to restart I get
"Error loading ffdshow.ax The specified module could not be found"

My SAF log is attached (but the extension renamed to .zip so I could upload it)

Any guidance you can provide would be most useful indeed!

    Thanks

I have tried full XP re-install and I still have the same problem!

    Any ideas anyone?

Could it be that one of the servers hosting one of the files that are downloaded by your installer is down????

    Robbo,

By your first error message, it points more to a local issue on your PC - where something has a lock/access onto a file its trying to move/extract. Do you have AV or backup software running? Is MePo running in the background?

SAF downloads/extracts files to a hidden directory, and then moves the files into the required locations from there (eg moves to system32 or MePo directory, etc). It is this move that appears to be failing - either because the source files in the temp area are locked, or maybe the file already exists in the desination area - which is in use.

    Thanks,

    J.

    Thanks, you star :D.

I completely uninstalled AVG Free and it worked first time!!!! I always put the anti virus software on early so never tried SAF installation without AVG.

I have another question now though :sorry: :

When I used my old system I used SPDIF output and when-ever I played a video ffdshow audio showed in the taskbar. I could use ffdshow config to change the sound settings that come through the SPDIF to my amp without problem.

Now I have the new system with 5450 GPU I output sound via the HDMI and whereas with SPDIF my AMP showing "Dolby DTS" or "Dolby Digital" (or whatever, as per what was set on the SPDIF passthrough from ffdshow), it now just always shows "MULTI CH DIRECT". Ffdshow audio is no-longer displayed in the taskbar (which doesn't bother me) but more importantly the speakers seem to be all mixed up - with a mixture of sound coming from the front and rear speakers (louder at the rear) and no sound from the centre speaker.

In windows I have the HDMI Audio device set to 5.1 speakers (and have tried others with no luck).

    What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: FIXED - I re-installed without selecting passthrough and now all is brilliant (so far):D

    Hi,

Could you please add an option to not uninstall MPC-HC? (Eg: Uninstall - but keep Media Player Classic"). On our HTPC we use the SAF installed MPC-HC as the default media player and it's a pain having to reconfigure it each time SAF is updated.

    Regards -Y

    robbo100:

AVG is evil, it was causing problems to me too, but not with SAF.
Since i use Avast free, no problems at all.

    You mean to reconfigure MPC-HC?
If yes, you can store MPC-HC settings in to *.ini instead of use registry. Then it wont be reset durning SAF install.

Nice, i changed default DTS/AC3 decoder from default libavcodec to libdts and liba52 in latest SAF, and now FFDshow wants to remove them due the latest FFDshow libavcodec update :)

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi,

I'm currently using SAF4 with MP V 1.1.2 and started using SAF4 when I installed MP V 1.1.1. Unsure if this is related to SAF or the new versions I installed, but since using both I have had freezing issues logged here

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mediaportal-v1-1-2-randomly-freezes-92699/

Other uses have had the same or similar issues and also have SAF installed. Are there any known issues around this? I have read that users have moved on from SAF4 to SAF5.

    Other questions:

This forum is headed "experimental". Is there a final stable version of SAF5? If so, how do I download from this forum and get the unlocked version (I see the "experimental" link but not one to a final stable version)? Also, when installing a new version of MP, does SAF have to be re-installed? Could this be causing my freezing issues??

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards

    Graham
