LAVF audio decoder doesnt do passthru just yet..stick to ffdshow or mpc-mpa audio decoder ( type regsvr32 MpaDecFilter.ax in the mp directory )

I noticed in GraphStudio that now the LAV Splitter is in use now with SAF 6, even when using just ffdshow. Is that a "bad" thing?

I noticed that LAVF 0.25 is out with passtrough so hopefully we get update of saf soon.........

Hi there,

There are several elements to LAV (splitter, audio decoder). As such you can use the splitter and a different audio decoder.

I am waiting for LAV to support profiles (like ffdshow audio), or at least think of a way for ffdshow audio to detect different audio sources when using LAV (its a bit difficult if its a common splitter for all formats).

The splitter essentially splits the file open to expose the video, audio, subtitle etc streams. Some splitters will only expose some formats and work with only some video types and some audio/video codecs. The Lavf splitter looks promising so far and it's developing quickly.

Hello Hoborg,

what have changed in ffdshow ? When i will play a BD the CPU is about 90% Utilization when i watch live tv hd, i have only sound and statue. When i play mkv's from hdd the film was fine and cpu by 10%. When i use PDVD11 for LiveTV HD, BD's it works great, and the cpu is by 7%. So far, I always had ffdshow for HD material, and always ran fine. ffdshow has no more dxva? Or it is up to the beta of MEPO?

Using ms codec for tv with lav audio I get the audio a couple of seconds ahead of the picture... Anything I can try to remedy this?

SAF 6.00 SVN20110509:
- MPC-HC filters/player updated to rev. 1.5.2.3098
- FFDShow updated to rev.3842
- LAVF updated to .25
- removed MadFLAC - LAVF should handle FLAC correctly now
- removed Madialook QT source - LAVF should handle MOV files correctly
- audio passthrough redirected to LAVF audio decoder
- tools are now selectable component

Audio bittstreaming was redirected to LAVF audio decoder now, so please test. No delay function yet.
LAVF audio decoder still doesnot work for DVDs, so use FFDshow audio decoder instead.

Getting some audio/video sync issues as certain movies progress, others it occurs right at the start with LAV chosen for audio.
Switched to ffdshow and all seems well at the moment.
Microsoft 7s own codecs seemed to work as well, will play around with the SAF 6 new release and see how different files are affected.
