Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Don't know, if the bluray movies were just upconverted from DD to DD+ by PDVD, or if it is a problem within the SAF audio decoders, that I never saw DD+ for my blurays, when played with internal player.

I never seen DD+ on a bluray disc, and if it exist it’s probably a test disc
It was more used on HD-DVD

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

I tried SAF 6 (latest, unlocked) with the settings recommended in the first post. I used no subtitles and audio passthrough. Result:

TV sound is broken, heavily distorted and just awful
AR in most videos are incorrect (I thought re-sizing was just a part of ffdshow subtitles?)
    No AC3 sound
    AAC sound isn't multichannel

Edit: I had "Use AC3filter - needed for some soundcards" checked. Could that be the issue?

My system specs are up to date if you feel like troubleshooting. I'm going back to SAF 5.02 now as I need a working setup for the family.

Can you provie small recording so i can reproduce? A did't have any sound issue at all on 3 machines (no passthrough here).

FFDshow resize is enabled only if subtitles are on. Can you reproduce the AR issue in graphstudio?
    No AC3 sound
Where? On all media (DVD/MKV/avi) or TV only?
    AAC sound isn't multichannel
Where? On all media (DVD/MKV/avi) or TV only?
BTW, you cannot passthrough AAC. AAC is sended as PCM, so maybe here is the issue? You can check if you click on LAV audio decoder in graph - there is a lot of info what is going on.

Edit: I had "Use AC3filter - needed for some soundcards" checked. Could that be the issue?

    Yes.
Always test as much as possible in Graphstudio, then in MePo.

AW: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    hi hoborg

i've two questions after installing latest saf6 on a fresh system and mepo install:
during the saf6 codec installation i checked the field for using the "saf" subtitles, but i noticed some heavy pixel distortion with subtitles in my videos. hence i'm back to the mepo subtitle engine and unchecked the subtitle field in the ffdshow video decoder settings and in the settings of the lav splitter. now everything works in these videos i watched but could this be a problem in other files?

the other question points at the activation for ordered chapters support... i used saf400 really a long time and this package could handle ordered chapters because it uses the haali splitter. in the haali settings there is an option to "always open linked files"... is it possible to activate that in saf6 too and if yes, what do i have to do? (maybe a little explanation: i have many series where the intro and the ending is in a separate file and the episode is the third in the round. with saf4 and the support of ordered chapters i just ahve to open the main episode and the intro and the ending would play too as if the three files were one.)

anyway thanks for your countless effort with these codec packages

    Hi Hoborg.

I've been using SAF since version 4. And everything have worked very well. But since SAF 6 I've got a little problem.

Short explained: In Norway we have a National Broadcasting Service called NRK. On the NRK1 channel they broadcast local news twice every day. Those broadcast is the problem. When the program starts everything is in sync. But after a few seconds is it not longer in sync. I've enclosed a record from the program here: http://opp-ned.com/tmp/Distriktsnyheter - NRK1 Nordland - 2011-07-14.TSSplit.2-8.ts

This clip is in Norwegian, but I think you will be aware of the sync problem if you tries to follow the speech with the lips...

When I play this clip in GraphStudio everything works fine. But if I play it in MP with suggested filters/codecs for SAF it will become unsync after a few seconds.

Is this a SAF or MP problem?

    Hi.
Well, there can be resize problem that MePo doesnot like. Just reinstall SAF and this time dont enable te subtitles. BTW, can you post screenshot of the pixelation problem?
And no, right now LAV splitter doesnot support file linking, but i bet it will in future.

well, if the file plays in Graphstudio, then SAF is working as it should. But is you play TS file in MePo, MePo TS reader is used instead a LAV splitter. Looks like TS reader cause the desync. Make sure PDVD11 decoder is in use durning playback in MePo.

I bet your mod will play corrctly if you open it in Gpahstudio.
Make sure you dont have .mod extension in MePo video player and add it in to MePo audio player extension.
The problem is that MePo try to play your .mod in video player instead of audio player.
Similar problem have user with FLV files few pages back on this thread.

Yes, next SAF is nearly ready to be released :)
