Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

I have a problem. I have set my PowerDVD 11 filter to play all files (using the ending in FF for merit preference). This works great, and all my files play without stuttering (mkv format). However, subtitles do not work. Yesterday, I did a reinstall of SAF and enabled the subtitle engine for full subtitles (as when I created the mkvs I removed all forced subtitles). When I turn on the subtitles in MePo, they do not appear on screen. However, in Graph Studio there is now (where there did not used to be), subtitles come from the video file and go to a text pass-thru, but then go to another object (of which I do not recall and cannot provide a picture of at the moment as I am not home) instead of the enhanced video renderer. This is with version 620. If possible, how do I get the subtitles enabled without changing from using the PowerDVD video decoder? If necessary, I can post more information when I get home.

That is becouse you have some subtitles engine enabled in MePo.
If all is working in graphstudio, then SAF working as it should.

    @Shadime

I had to zip as the file extension was invalid.

Always best to zip file\s anyway.

As hoborg has already stated, I would use a mass renamer and change all the extensions to mpg, which it shows in gspot as mpeg2, and then nothing has a problem playing it.

    Thanks,

Do you have any suggestions or programs that will rename?

    Cheers

Hoborg (or anyone else with an answer),

Please let me know if the situation below would be what you would expect to see for subtitles to work. As the files are MKVs they are played using the Video settings in MP. There is a subtitle engine enabled, MPC-HC. When I disable the subtitles in the configuration, I am not given the option to turn them on in MP. For some reason, I am unable to save the graph.

File Source (Async.) Output goes to LAV Splitter Input. LAV Splitter Video Output goes to CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD11) Video In. LAV Splitter Audio Output goes to LAV Audio Decoder Input. LAV Splitter Subtitle goes to TextPassThru1dae9f7c Input. TextPassThru1dae9f7c Out goes to 0001 In. CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD11) Video Out goes to Enhanced Video Renderer EVR Input0. CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD11) Closed Caption Out goes nowhere. LAV Audio Decoder Output goes to Default DirectSound Device Audio Input Pin (rendered). Why doesn't the Closed Caption Out go into the EVR Input1 or EVR Input2? The reason I have set to use PDVD11 all the time is due to poor results with FFDShow.

First of all please don't take this the wrong way. :D
    SAF 6.00 SVN20110718 released!
    - MPC-HC filter/player updated to rev. 1.5.2.3391
    - FFDShow updated to rev.3940
    - FFDshow audio decoder/processor is now selectable component
    - disable FFDshow DXVA decoder for MP4 only if FPS>49
    - redirect all Realmedia decoding to MPC decoder
    - FFDshow/MPC-HC setting reset was not created on x64 OS
I know that you only update SAF v6.00 for some time now, but it would be really nice to see the above changes in SAF v5.x too.
I can't risk running into issues using SAF v6.0 (I don't know if it would but it is a risk) while SAF v5.02 works 97.5% without problems. (I don't know if updating v5.x would solve my 2.5% or not) :D

Also :D for all your hard work so far...

You can install SAF6 and if it wont work for you, you can uninstall it and install SAF5 again.
There is no reason to keep SAF5 alive, SAF6 is much better :)

What do you mean by this?
You can configure FFDShow audio decoder from START-SAF-FFShow-configure FFDshow audio decoder.
FFDshow aduio processor can be configured from MePo postprocessing

    Hi hoborg,

Here are he samples of the two files:

    Artifacts_with_DXVA-004.mkv:
I can reproduce this. Looks like it is a bug in FFDshow DXVA decoder, MPC-HC and PDVD DXVA decoders working just fine.

    Not_playing_with_dxva.mp4:
This will be fixed in next SAF.

Hi hoborg, is the artifacts problem solved with new version?

The problem with MP4 FPS>49 relates to video FPS parameter? has it anythong to do with setting the video card to 720P & 50Hz?

Hi Hoborg, first i would say thx to a great saf work!!!
    But.....
Some kinda problem here.Since i upgradet my machine to saf6 i got strange things here.
First when i take the settings from your first post all mp3 mpg4 files have heavy stuttering, sound is normal.
In ffdshow i must take the other profiles in the settings to make videos work. but frames are dropping heavily.
Now i have all codecs set to cyberlink......all work fine here but.......iget crazy......videos take up to 2 minutes to start.
Sounds wired i know...but when i choose a video (mp4 hdtv, mkv,and so on...)and hit the ok button to start it takes extrem long to start.
Video quality and sound is great then but the time to start is an impossible no go.
Hope you have any idea..... Thx a lot and greetz from Austria.
P.S.: I have an ION System 330 whit external TV Server and sound goes via toslink passthrough to receiver.
Saf 4 makes no problem and works great.
