AW: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    Hi hoburg
Is there an advantage compared to SAF5?
Or let me ask something else, why should i change from SAF5 to SAF6? :)
SAF5 is running quite good so far.

SAF6 should be better in many ways thanks to LAVF.
For example seeking in large files are now much faster.

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    Hi hoborg

Just a couple of things using SAF6, I'm on latest 110516.

FFDShow enabled resize\aspect, this I have to untick each install as most video is shown to the wrong scale\aspect and the MP zoom modes do not work correctly.

Also in the FFDShow DXVA settings, dxva is not enabled for VC1, on my setup this causes MP to crash, if enabled then all is fine.

Not complaining, just wondering why they are setup this way when they may cause issues.

    Regards

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Yesterday, I had the same issue, MP didn't play anything. GraphStudio showed, that the audio pin was not connected to anything, only video to PDVD11. I could insert a compatible module manually, but it was not possible to connect it with the splitter.
I then installed saf6 again and then it was working again - I hope it will now keep doing this. Before I installed new ATI drivers, maybe this can have caused this issue??

Besides, bitstreaming of DD works now also in LiveTV on my system.

    --Alex

For some reason the audio pin on the splitter does not connect to anything in graphstudio.
The video pin connects to ffdshow DVXA video decoder.
I've installed 5.02 and 6.00 (latest ver) over and over.
    I've tried de-registering and re-registering ffdshow.ax
Any ideas what to try next?

Another point: I cannot configure lav audio decoder in graphstudio by double clicking the decoder - it only shows the properties dialog, but not the dialog, where it can be configured! I know, once it was doing that. So, I always need FFDShow as workaround to be able to go into the lav audio configuration via the symbol in the windows start bar. This workaround is a little bit weired - isn't it?

Configuring lav audio is quite hidden, and it is important, because hd bitstreaming must be enabled, each time a new saf is installed!

I know that! But I opened this bug-thread before you said, that I should try with default renderer!

But the default renderer changes nothing in this issue!!!

This cannot be the problem. On my HTPC all works fine and this with selected renderer not with the default one!

FFDShow enabled resize\aspect, this I have to untick each install as most video is shown to the wrong scale\aspect and the MP zoom modes do not work correctly.

That is problem of MePo - it is working fine in all other players i tested.
But resize is enabled only if FFDshow subtites engine is enabled durning SAF setup.
Also in the FFDShow DXVA settings, dxva is not enabled for VC-1, on my setup this causes MP to crash, if enabled then all is fine.
DXVA for VC-1 is disabled, becouse it doesnot work for interlaced VC-1. Can you post small VC-1 sample that doesnot work with disabled VC-1 DXVA?

I know that! But I opened this bug-thread before you said, that I should try with default renderer!

But the default renderer changes nothing in this issue!!!

This cannot be the problem. On my HTPC all works fine and this with selected renderer not with the default one!

So, can you setup MePo to use dafault audio renderer, reproduce the problem and post MePo logs again?

Configuring lav audio is quite hidden, and it is important, because hd bitstreaming must be enabled, each time a new saf is installed!

    --Alex

I can confirm this. Will be fixed in next SAF.
BTW, you can configure LAVF if you open any video in graphstudio - not connect to remote graph.

I use MPC-HC to configure LAVF audio, just add it as an external filter and you can set the properties by double clicking on the filter.

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Fantastic work as always - Hoborg you may remember me from the saf 5 thread :) I've put my ATI HD3650 back in the HTPC and bluray content now appears to mostly be playing ok with SAF6 with low cpu so it is now using hardware, woop!

I have one problem however - all VC-1 content appears to have the most awful judder, completely unwatchable. At first I thought it might be because i wasn't in native 24hz, but I tried it in 24hz and the same judder was there. I can record a sample to show if you wish - it's definitely using the hardware (i ticked the box on the ffdshow setting for vc-1 to be decoded through the GPU and can see low cpu times) but the judder is mad..peoples eyes flicker, when they walk it looks like they are walking both backwards and forwards at the same time :D

Ive done a bit of googling but I can't really work out why it is happening - i installed the latest ati drivers if this helps. Is there a recommended release to use for ATI? The judder also appears when running in graphstudio, so it's not an MP problem.

    Thanks!
