Have problems with DTS over spdif with LAVF.
The reciever shows DTS but I don't hear anything.

    Is that a known bug?

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

What would be a normal CPU load while watching a DVD image from HD?

After installing SAF 6.00, I've been playing around with codecs and it doesn't really make any difference with my setup whether I choose ffdshow, Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder or MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest). I always get an averaging CPU load between 40% and 50%.

Some people say that with the GPU doing all the work, the CPU should be close to 0% (not counting any other processes of course). How much of this is true?

Yes, with hardware decoding, the CPU usage should not be that high. Even for software decoding, 40 to 50% sounds unusually high for me, but that depends on the CPU that you actually use.

Do you have the right refresh rate setted in Windows for monitor?

With your Athlon II X2 you should have 20% for maximum if you don't use hardware acceleration!

With hardware acceleration you should be near 0%, that's right for dvds!

    Hi Hoborg,

i have just a small question regarding ffdshow audio.

Everything runs smooth with SAF 6 latest relase. I have only one small problem which i can´t solve.
I use ffdshow audio for TV and Movies without problems, but i can not create a equal soundoutput.
I mean the soundoutput on AC3 channels are quite flat. I tryed with volume controll ( ffdshow ) to compare this,
but without success. SD Channels are a lot auf louder. If i change AC Codec to the ffdshow default ( libcodec i thing )
its better and runs at a equal sound level. With using libcodec i get dropped frames and shutters -- so it´s no alternative for me to use it. Is there any chance to tweak the other codec ( libmad i think ).

No pathtrough .... only a analog connection to my amplifier.

    Regards,
    Daniel

    Jelmo:

Did you tryed LAVF audio decoder?
I then the best solution for you will be using FDShow Normalize filter.

Yes i tryed, but the results are not accaptebel. So ffdshow works defintly better for me.
I use normalise but it doesn´t work. Only if i switch to the other AC3 codec.

Hmm well with a X2 250e at 3GHz and a Radeon 6450 I thought I would be in the save zone... I guess I have to first invest a few bucks in a new mobo. I had issues getting x64 drivers and the PC sometimes refuses to boot unless I unplug the NIC
