Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Cannot reproduce, WMP play your sample without any problem. Win7 x64 here.

WMP uses MediaFoundation to play some file formats. Not sure if AVI is one of those, but if it is then WMP uses completely different framework (and filters of course) for the playback.

The problem with WMP not playing a whole bunch of Xvid 720p files disappears when uninstalling SAF 6.0, and since SAF 6.0 doesn't mess with Windows MediaFoundation, what could be conflicting here? The sample plays fine with MPC-HC using the SAF filters, so WMP 12 should either use these filters to or its own, IMO.

WMP doesn't use MediaFoundation for all formats. So, SAF could break some DirectShow related stuff and cause WMP to failt to play.

I did some experimenting with that sample:
Xvid_not_playing_with_WMP.avi - download now for free. File sharing. Software file sharing. Free file hosting. File upload. FileFactory.com

I run Windows 7 x64 sp1, SAF 6.0_110620 , Catalyat drivers 11.6, if I remove SAF 6.0, the video plays fine in WMP, if SAF 6.0 is installed the video fails with WMP but is OK with MPC-HC using FFDSHOW, if SAF 6.0 is installed and I uninstall Catalyst drivers completely and reboot without any video card drivers, WMP plays the video fine, of course with reduced resolution and some funny color schema, but it plays without an error. but MPC-HC doesn't play the video.

I think there must be a conflict with WMP caused by SAF 6.0 while Catalyst 11.6 is installed.

Anyway, since these files play with MPC-HC, and play fine with MePo which is the main function of that PC, I don't consider it as a problem that I must solve n order to regain functionality of my HTPC.

Maybe they did not fix the video playback issue in 11.6, so could be time to go back to 11.4 ;)

    Kudos !!!

It pays off to have delusional paranoids around, your guess was right on the spot, Catalyst 11.4, SAF 6.0, and WMP plays them all.

    Many thanks.

@Sparky_Ol, you should play an MKV in windows so you get the little FFDSHOW icon on the system tray, you click on it with Right Mouse Button, choose LAV Splitter, there you can untick as per my attached photo.
Thanks, but that doesn´t chage the problem. It is still impossible to play those files with ffdshow(dxva) :(

Do you get the same error as I enclosed before MePo crashes? Have you cleared both lines and unchecked? I also unchecked in FFDSHOw DXVA subtitles configuration the line: "Give embedded priority over subtitle file", I didn't mention it because I allway uncheck it, also when running hali splitter instead of Lav spliter, like in previous versions of SAF.

I've enclosed a screen shot of Graphsyudio with one of my MKV movies with embedded subtitles using SAF 600_110620

    MKV_Embedded_Subtitles_SAF_600_110620..png

    Is this what you get?

    Hi,

This is driving me insane, nothing I do wiil let me playback .flac files in MePo. I have tried both DX and BASS players.

They play fine in GraphStudio tho.

    I am using MP 1.1.2, XP & SAF 6.

This is not an SAF issue if your FLAC playing fine in graphstudio.
    But here is the problem:

    2011-07-10 21:15:28.781250 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: VideoPlayer:play M:\Marillion\Marillion 1984 - Fugazi [24 bit Remaster 1998] (Flac)\CD1\07 - Fugazi.flac

MePo thinks, your FLAC is a Video file so it use video player instead of audio player.

SAF? No way, it is safe :) All reports was false :D
