I too use rss to automate downloads and have files auto categorized with azureus. My solution to this is the program I use to extract. Its called SCRU (Scene Release Unpacker) that will autmatically extract files added to a watch folder to specific folders using regex expressions. There is an option in the program to not copy over sample clips or images. Its a bit tedious to set up at first but after it is I find  it works very well. Another handy feature is that it will rename the extracted files to the original folder name that can make them more readable to the plugin.
