I am trying to set up WebEPG and have hit a huge roadblock. The scanned analog channels show up In the WebEPG TV Mappings with just the channel numbers. Channel Names is blank.

Now for some details. I am using the Hauppague HVR 1800 that has two tuners. In the TV Server the analog shows up as Hauppauge WinTV 885 tuner and the channel scan picked up 99 channels but only the channel numbers, no channel names. Then I click on the other tuner which is identified as ATSC Hauppague WinTV 885 and did the channel scan it picked up 8 channels which are identified by channel name. Back to the WebEPG plugin and click on TV Mappings all the analog channel numbers are there but no channel names. At the bottom of the list are 8 ATSC channels identified by name.
Did I miss a button somewhere that would of picked up the channel names when I was doing the analog scan?

    No.
It is pretty normal for names not to be found for analog channels, because there is no worldwide standard for broadcasting them. You need to enter the names yourself in the TV Channels (and/or Radio Channels) section.

Two slow clicks on the channel row will make the channel name editable.
Double click (or select and click "edit" button) will open the edit dialog for the channel where you can also modify the channel name.

Thanks for the reply mm1352000. I was hoping that the MP installation would be somewhat similar to that of Hauppague Win TV installation. Doing the analog channel scan in the Win TV setup the scan picks up the channel number and the channel name. Evidently not so in MP. I will do it manually as you suggested and thanks for the info on how to do it.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Can you give me some examples of the names WinTV picks up?
The channel names in TV Server should not be blank. When we can't get the real names the channels are meant to be given "placeholder" names. For analog scanning I think those names are the physical channel number on which the channel was found. So to be clear: are you saying that in your case the names really are 100% blank?
I'd be interested to see some log files if you'd be willing. Use the watchdog with option 3 to export existing log files.

Some TV viewer read the channel names from teletex if it is available.
