I'm rather at a loss here folks. For some reason, I'm unable to record channel 4. For some reason, it decides to record a random channel whenever I try to record anything on channel 4. It's not limited to channels I've been watching, as I've had the spanish language channel record before (That was dull as I a bit of a redneck and seem to barely speak English let alone Spanish.), but it usualy settles for channel 5 or 7. The timestamp on the file shows it as being channel 4 at the correct time, but which channel and program it records is up for grabs.
On a side note, I tried to record a show on channels 7 then 4 this evening, and instead got channel 7 for both. The file headrs show the data as being correct, but the content was channel 7 instead of 4.
I have channel 4 Sched. to record twice a week, Tues, and Thurs. I end up w/ file-headings saying chan. 4 & the right time but it's who knows what.
I've reinstalled MediaPortal, Reinstalled Windows, reinstalld bot WinXp & MP on nw drives, and I've even gone in and manually deleted the recording schedules from the SQLite proggie a few times hoping it was forgotten rec. sched. that was gumming up the works...
As I recently recieved a warning of copyright violation for downloading the episodes of (Go ahead laugh) Smallville and Supernatural that I missed due to the random scheduleing I now find this random channel choosing on Thursdays less amusing. Having had it hit on a Tues was more than I could take. I usually get the Tues Sched!
Since it does not seem to matter what day of the week the program is sched. and that it will record some other random channel, I am starting to worry.
If anyone has any ideas, questions, prior experience, please feel free to let me know.

THANK YOU! I do appreciate your time,
I've spent close to a year of my own trying to puzzle this out,
Any time you spend w/ me is greatly appreciated.
At this point, I don't care about eh shows,
I just want to know what the prob. is and
How to fix it. (I want to crush this bug, so sue me!)

Hi,

I have had the same issue with MP as long as I can remember.
The only thing I can figure is MP "thinks" it is tuned in to channel 4 so it decides it does not need to change.
The only work-around I have is before a show starts to go ahead and turn the TV on in MP and tune to channel 4 (and verify it really is channel 4).
Now I can turn the TV off and MP seems to record channel 4 correctly about 85% of the time.

Thanks!

::Grin:: Thanks for the reply, rather sad to learn I'm not alone w/ this issue.
I've tried setting it to chan. 4 when I'm around, but it still changes to a random channel for the second sched. rec.
on that channel.
::Laugh:: Hey, if MP hates channel 4, I can live w/ it! MP is more than entitled to a bit of peevish behavior, and as this is the ONLY problem it's ever given me, it can watch what it wants. =D It's the best piece of software I've ever had the pleasure of using, and the forums are amazing. I was only w/o a prog. guide for 3 weeks before someone left a post about the Zap2XML scraper, and now I'm up and running like I never missed a beat!

Hi Skittius,

I have the same problem. I also used Patrick's workaround for a while. Later,I found a solution which works for me, but it's really strange. As stated in this thread:

https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/recording_wrong_channel-t6679.html?t=6679&highlight=channel+4

the fix is to go into the config program and change the channel number for channel 4 to an unused channel number! Leave the frequency as it is. This makes no sense, but it worked for me.

I submitted a bug report on this problem a few months back, but got no response. At the time, I didn't know how long the problem had been around. Kinda disappointing. :(

What? Who? You don't need the frequency. I only mentioned it as a warning not to change it. Just change the existing channel number on the screen shown in the thumbnail. The screenshot happens to be channel 9, but you get the idea. This screen is in the config program at Television -> TV Channels -> DoubleClick on channel 4 or select channel 4 and then click edit.
